One of our most important assets here at Anderson’s are our staff. We employ over 100 permanent and relief staff all of whom work to a high standard which is reflected in our Care Inspectorate reports.
It is our staff who help us to fulfil our mission which is:-
To provide excellent care services to older people, ensuring that they have a good quality of life and that their safety and wellbeing is always a priority.
We believe that older people who live at Anderson’s must receive the best quality care and attention according to their individual needs and circumstances.
In order to meet these needs, we provide comprehensive and ongoing training programmes so that staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to adequately care for our residents. This training begins from their very first day at Anderson’s when all staff attend organisational induction training.
Our Care Home Manager sets the tone and style of how all teams work together to ensure a supporting, efficient and effective service.
We believe that leadership should be shared. At different times, members of our teams take responsibility for leading based on their role, experience and knowledge. Team members are encouraged to use their initiative helping to deliver our purpose and vision.
We encourage everyone to have a voice in decision making and there is a strong focus on open communication.

Jo qualified as a nurse in 2003 and worked as a staff nurse while raising her three children. In 2016 Jo moved into care home management, starting her first manager’s post in January 2016 in Forres. Since then Jo had worked as a Clinical Support Manager and Nurse Manager, providing clinical support and peripatetic management support to multiple homes.

Caring is at our core and our teams are essential to delivering the very best care and support to our residents. All our team leaders are skilled in what they do and have many years of experience and have developed a thorough knowledge of care provision and how we work at Anderson’s.
Kelly Mackie not only leads the Morrice and Munro teams but is also Assistant Home Manager, supporting the Home Manager in day to day operations as well as deputising for Jo in her absence. Kelly has been with Anderson’s since 2006, initially starting as a relief carer before gradually working her way up to become Assistant Home Manager in 2023.
Kelly Mackie, Assistant Home Manager
We have 5 care teams – one for each ‘House’ that is Easton, Morrice, Munro, Harrison and Ogilvie. These teams are supported by a dedicated Care Team Manager.
Our Care Team Managers work closely with each other and the Home Manager in ensuring that the standard of care delivered is of high quality, person centred with the needs of the residents being a priority.
Linda Hay leads the Ogilvie and Harrison teams. Linda first joined Anderson’s as Assistant Manager. Linda had a year away from Anderson’s but returned in 2011, initially as a relief senior carer but, recognising her previous experience she rapidly progressed into the Care Team Manager role. |
Janine Brown leads Easton House and night shift teams. Janine joined Andersons in May 2023.
To operate a successful care home, there are a number of other key teams all of whom are part of the caring family at Anderson’s. They are passionate about what they do, committed in their approach and share common values. They provide essential services in housekeeping; catering; activities; administration; personnel; finance; reception and maintenance.
Volunteers are an important facet of life at Anderson’s providing a wonderful service of friendship and support to our residents.
Volunteering can be really rewarding and every visit can bring you closer to the residents. It can change your perception of seniors, helping you realise that despite their elderly years they are still young at heart.
You may hear amazing stories from their past and the lives that they have lived. They have lived through war, food shortages, rationing and grew up in a time when the modern technology we take for granted simply did not exist. They love to share their happy, sad and sometimes funny stories and memories with you.
By choosing to volunteer at Anderson’s whether that’s as someone who reads to the residents, helps with activities, or simply sits and talks with them, you will be making a difference and, improving their wellbeing. A fresh face is always engaging for our residents and helps to maintain links with the outside world.
What better use of your spare time?
If you are interested in volunteering, even for only 1 hour a week – then please telephone Anderson’s and ask to speak to someone in the HR & Admin team. We would love to hear from you.
Structure
Anderson’s Care Home is a Scottish Community Interest Organisation (SCIO) operating as ‘The General Anderson Trust’.
It is a Registered Charity (No. SCO50117).
The organisation is non-profit making with all funds committed to the operation of the home and welfare of the residents of the Home.
Governance
The Trust is managed by a Board of 13 volunteer Trustees (Governors) whose role is to ensure compliance with legal, financial, health and other regulations and to assume oversight of all aspects of the operation. The Care Home Manager, supported by a small senior management team, is responsible to the board for day to day operations. Trustee’s are drawn from the local community and have a wide range of skills and expertise enabling the organisation to operate in an efficient and effective third sector environment.
The Board meets bi-monthly and is accountable to the Office of the Scottish Charities Requlator (OSCR) for its stewardship of the sizeable budget required to conduct the business of maintaining and running a modern residential care home for the elderly.
There are two sub Committees which meet monthly: Finance and House and Refurbishment (H&R). Each has an experienced Chairperson who reports to the Board. Trustee’s are allocated to each sub-committee based on their experience and knowledge. The Chair of the board will also attend these sub-committee meetings.
