An interesting, fun and engaging programme of activities is essential to the wellbeing of our residents. Our creative Activities Co-ordinator along with other key members of staff organise an extensive daily programme. This includes, art and crafts, beetle drives, play your cards right, bingo, pampering and wellbeing sessions, giant word grid and ‘Our Music in Me’ – Anderson’s Album.
Music is a very important element of the programme as it brings so many memories back to our residents. Visits from choirs, music groups and entertainers are a strong feature. Anderson’s participates in the Playlist for Life programme and particular special songs are highlighted and documented in individual resident’s care plans.
Community engagement is a vital part of our philosophy and there are frequent visits from local nursery children, both primary and secondary school pupils as well as visits from the local RAF base, businesses and other agencies.
Special events include Burn’s lunch, Christmas dinner, Halloween party and visits to parks and countryside venues are a regular feature of the summer programme along with our annual garden party.
We are always trying out new activities at Anderson’s which allow our residents to give us feedback so we can add to our monthly programme.
Church Services
Church services, led by clergy from St Giles and St Columbus South have recommenced in a group setting within the main hall at Anderson’s or, if the weather is good, outside in the Heritage Garden. The services currently take place fortnightly and are led alternatively by Sonia Palmer and Dion Oelofse.
Bus Runs
Nicole, our activities Co-ordinator, regularly schedules bus runs for residents as part of Anderson’s activities schedule. These currently take place twice a week. The service is provided by The Laich Moray Trust.
Our residents love a trip out on the coach. Recent trips have been to Califer View Point with views looking right across to Nigg/ Invergordon, a drive round the Moray coast, with a stop in Lossiemouth for an ice cream.
A recent visit to Grant Park, Forres was another success. There is an enchanted garden right beside it where some of the residents enjoyed a walk round viewing the beautiful array of flowers in bloom. Residents also had a lovely drive out to the ruins of Duffus Castle.
Trishaw – ‘Cycling Without Age’
Anderson’s is the first home in the area to purchase a TRISHAW and is an affiliate of ‘Cycling Without Age’.
A group of enthusiastic volunteers have been trained to act as Pilots and “nothing beats witnessing the joy of our residents, pilots and personnel interacting on and around the trishaw and seeing the smiles of passengers coming back from their first ride with wind in their hair, rosy cheeks and full of stories”.

Housekeeping
We employ a team of housekeeping staff who work to a very high standard to keep all areas within the Home clean as part of our infection control strategy.
Maintenance
We employ maintenance staff in-house and employ contractors externally to keep the Home in a good state of repair.
Laundry Facility
A large laundry equipped with the latest industrial equipment is housed in the basement of Easton House. All residents’ personal laundry as well as bed linen, towels etc. is taken care of here as well as ironing as required. We aim to return laundry to the owner within forty-eight hours of receipt. All items of clothing must have names on for identification purposes. We regret that we are unable to accept items of clothing which are unsuitable for machine washing.
Dry cleaning can be arranged on request and will be charged to individual residents.
GP Arrangements
Maryhill Medical Centre is the appointed surgery for all residents at Andersons.
Hairdressing
We have hairdressing facilities in both our buildings, and appointments can be made with either of our regular hairdressers. Some residents arrange for their own hairdresser to visit or go out to a local salon.
Chiropody
We work closely with the Community Nurses, NHS and Chiropody Service to meet resident’s needs, as per NHS provision. Arrangements can be made for private chiropody visits and charged to individual residents.
Dentists and Opticians
At Anderson’s we have arrangements with West End Dental Practice and McClintock Opticians. Residents can of course make arrangement with their own dentist or optician.
Religious Services
We will be pleased to help residents maintain participation in any religious service. Church services are held on the first and third Sunday of the month.
Newspapers and Magazines
Residents can order newspapers and magazines which are delivered daily. We can assist in the collection of payments from residents to enable the newsagent to be paid weekly.
Family and friends always receive a warm welcome when they come to visit.
We do ask visitors to avoid visits at meal times, and to not visit after 9.00pm.
